A love note.
Sometimes I leave Domi notes in the mornings before I leave. This morning I wrote one out for him, and then he woke up before I could sneak off and surprise him with it. D'oh!
When I got home from work, this was waiting for me:
Ohmahgah so cyute, right? Yeah, I thought so too. :)

Crochet?
We now interrupt your usual broadcast of the Summer of Awesome with this important message:
The other day I watched a tutorial on how to crochet and suddenly and overwhelmingly decided I needed to learn. Well. I have now chosen to teach myself.
I've literally been itching to get my hands on some yarn and crochet hooks since last Friday... and so today I went to JoAnn's and bought some.
I think the yarn is quite pretty. I was practicing the entire bus ride home. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to be making with this, but I like the color and I'm maybe finding that crochet is as easy as they say... We shall see.
(I more or less know how to do some basic knit stitches, however I tried to love that craft and failed. (I find it more tedious than anything else). I was also taught (by my Great Aunt Shirley, may she rest in peace) how to crochet, but for whatever reason her lessons on crochet didn't stick the way the knitting and sewing ones did. So. This one's for you Aunt Shirley!
Wish me luck and send me any and all tips you may have!!! Also, what should I make? Also, does anyone know how to read crochet patterns? I don't understand them.
Word... and... help?
:)

Summer of Awesome: New York City
Originally when I left on my Summer of Awesome I was supposed to spend my first week of travel in NYC with my best friend Zoe. Zoe had to bail on me due to a work engagement that was going to allow for HER summer of awesome to be possible, so although I was disappointed, I was not totally mad at her. (I love you Zoe)
It allowed for me to do some more touristy things on my own.
I got really excited, wandering around, when I saw the Hotel Empire. I have a confession to make: I'm a bit obsessed with Gossip Girl. So. This was neat.
Central Park was beautiful and I was excited to find the running path... another confession? I'm obsessed with Sex and the City... and I couldn't help but pretend I was Charlotte and was going to wander back to my fancy pad on Park Avenue...
You give him a dollar and he takes a picture with you! I was excited to find Cookie Monster - I wouldn't have parted with my dollar for anyone but him - and he told me he loved me! (And he smelled a bit of rum... or his Cookie Monster costume did...)
After purchasing hipsterdom (my hat) I found a nifty place for dinner. Called Slightly Oliver (which apparently means slightly tipsy), I had a lovely time da sola. I like eating out by myself every once in a while. I people watch and I treat myself and I thoroughly enjoy myself. Do you like to eat out by yourself?
After Ollie's I went across the street to meet up with a friend for a drink. I can't remember the name of the bar but I'm sure I could find it again - it was very nifty and very literary and not terribly expensive. For something like $8 I got this purple concoction including the mug. Refills after that $5? maybe? (I didn't keep the mug, seeing as I was on the verge of embarking on a two-month travelthon and didn't particularly want to lug the mug as you might imagine)
So. There you have it: New York City. It was so much fun, and merely the debut of my adventures...
More to come!

My Summer of Food...
This is a teaser post. Haha, gotcha!
But seriously, I'm going to post some pictures of my summer. I traveled all over the place and it was awesome. (I could have entitled this as : My Summer of Awesome!)
Turns out that I suck at taking pictures (I already knew that though) and have very few of the places I went and the people I saw. Go figure. I do, however, have a ton of pictures of the food I ate.
I think I like to take pictures of food more than anything else. Also, food pretty much stays the same from one minute to the next, so no fear of 'missing that kodak moment' or what have you.
So. Stay tuned for the first stop: New York. :)

and in other news
I made this:
I took one of Domi's company's tshirts and made a skirt. I had pinned it, and made it shortly thereafter.
Oh the joy!

Homemade pizza
In a burst of insanity (I have to assume it was insanity...) I decided to make a pizza tonight for dinner.
Recently I've been thinking about what I want to do - feeling the tug of irritation and guilt regarding the way in which I consume.
We signed up for our first CSA and got some beautiful fresh fruits and vegetables. I had a craving for pizza, and instead of going to the local pizza joint, I decided to go ahead and wing it and make my own.
I COMPLETELY faked my pizza dough. I have a recipe and everything, and we've actually made pizza before, but I decided to be a lazy, lazy person and just throw everything together without much kneading or forethought.
This was ready in about 5-10 minutes.
Please excuse the not-good-ness of this picture. Like I said, I'm feeling pretty lazy. I'm also feeling impatient, because I went ahead and put it in the oven before my mom came back from the store with shredded mozzarella I was planning on plopping on top of it...
This is how it looked when I took it out when my mom got back with the mozzarella.
(I know what you're thinking: she couldn't be bothered to rotate the image??? geez... Yes. I know, I know. I feel the same way)
So. Here goes.
This is the finished product:
And my thoughts on my finished product? yum.
